“In my movement practice, I delve into the complicated emotions caused by the negative impacts of purity culture. Through my work, I explore the hidden struggles and complexities that arise from societal expectations and the pressure to conform to an idealized idea of purity. By embodying these experiences, I aim to shed light on the toll they take on one’s sense of self, personal growth, and body-relationship. My movement serves as a medium to process and challenge these harmful norms, inviting audiences to engage in a dialogue about the importance of embracing authenticity and breaking free from the constraints of a culture that stifles individuality.”

Feminal
"Feminal" is an evocative contemporary dance theater double-bill that explores what it means to be a women. It boldly addresses the objectification of women’s bodies and explores the many qualities and emotions that are present in the female experience.
Hoback’s suspenseful solo creation “Initial Dissent” opens the performance, inviting audiences into the aftermath of a woman’s tumultuous relationship with religion and shattered ideals of purity.
Community Engagement performance “Girls” school-version by Roy Assaf. Enactor Productions can engages with local dancers in the collaborative re-staging process of the school-version of Roy Assaf’s popular work “Girls,” offering insights from Hobacks’ extensive process with Assaf and giving the opportunity for local dancers to engage with an internationally-recognized choreographer’s work.

Feminal is a confronting dance theater performance that explores how women’s bodies are objectified. Through gripping storytelling, gestural choreography, and striking visuals, the performance exposes the impact of stereotypes, history, and expectations on women.

A contemporary dance-theater double bill that explores the lasting impact of our fading personal histories.
Enactor Productions engages with local dancers in the collaborative re-creation process of Hoback’s evocative group work “Running out,” creating a unique communal experience that reflects the local artists’ sensibilities and experiences.
Paired with one of Hoback’s striking solo works, this thought-provoking program invites audiences to reflect upon how the past informs our present and shapes our path ahead.

PLACE - CHEN-WEI LEE
place is an exploration of identity, digging into the interplay between our past experiences and the evolution we undergo over time. Crafted by Chen-Wei Lee, this evocative dance-theater work navigates the complexities of personal narrative, weaving together a highly-structured, yet responsive-to-the-moment performance. Created in collaboration with performer Becca Hoback, the process involved a dynamic exchange of ideas, culminating in a script that intimately explores the struggles of personal growth.
